For the Home

Musée des Arts Decoratif - Their Museum bookshop and boutique is worth a stop (and accessible without having to go into the museum).  It is full of great design and home books, written in French, but the photos alone make them great coffee table books. - 107 rue de Rivoli, 1e.

Bouchara - While this store has some great houseware and linen items, the real reason to stop here is the Fabrics and Notions.  These are designer worthy fabrics for both fashion and home.  And unless you have ready access to a major métropolitan wholesale district, the range and quality can’t be beat for these prices.  If you have any interest or talent in sewing, this is a store you must check out. - 54 bd Haussmann, 9e.

Castelbajac Concepts - This shop is part gallery, part boutique and sells accessories for the home as well as the body.  The items are both imaginative and quirky, well worth a stop - 31 place du Marche St-Honoré, 1e.

La Chaise Longue – This shop, full of quirky items for the home, has affordable things that you can actually fit in your luggage. We especially like the out of the ordinary dishes, both for adults and children. - 2 rue de Seze, 9e; 20 rue des Francs-Bourgeois, 3e.

Herve Gambs - This boutique featuring colorful silk flowers, is located on a scenic side street of the Marais. The flowers look so real that you want to smell them.  And surprise, they are fragranced, thanks to vaporizers with a scents such as jasmine, lilac, and orange blossom. - 9 bis Rue des Blancs Manteaux, 4e.

Fiesta Galerie – 50’s U.S. pop art & kitsch in the middle of the Marais. These items are original pieces (and thus not cheap), but the shop is an amazing trip down memory lane. - 45 rue Vielle du Temple, 4e.

Resonances - Often called the French “Restoration Hardware”, this store delivers fine design ideas along with those little kitchen items that you can only fine in Europe. 3 bd Malesherbes, 1e.

Rosemary Schulz - This design/tabletop store has some wonderful design ideas.  Stop by for inspiration to bring back home with you. - 30 rue Boissy d’Anglais, 8e.

Sia - This is the flagship store of this style merchant, specializing in silk flowers.  The designs are beautiful (and also available in the department stores)- 5 bd Malesherbes, 1e.

Territoire - Another home design store, in the same mall as Rosemary Schulz, the mood here is Parisian seashore - 30 rue Boissy d’Anglais, 8e.

La Vaissellerie – This shop is stuffed with housewares and white porcelain dishes in every shape and size. This is the place to get that unusual piece of dishware to go on your tabletop ~ 322 rue St. Honore, 1e; 80 bd Haussmann, 8e; 85 rue de Rennes, 6e; 79 rue St. Lazare, 9e; 92 rue St. Antoine, 4e.
