Gourmet Food and Wine Shopping in Paris, France
Gourmet Snacks
Fauchon- This is the place to go if you are planning a gourmande snack attack in your hotel - 26 pl. de la Madeleine, 8e.
Lafayette Gourmet - Don’t forget about this store within the Galleries Lafayette complex.
Lenotre - Leontre is not just about sweets anymore. They have a nicely rounded deli where you can put together a whole picnic. And for a (hefty) price, they’ll even deliver to your hotel. - Check out their 5 rue du Havre, 8e and other locations.
Chocolates
Debauve and Gallais - The oldest chocolatier in Paris and the place to go for unusual chocolates. 30 Rue des Sts-Peres, 7e.
Maison du Chocolat - This chocolate “boutique” sells an amazing array of exquisite pastries, cocoa, and hand made chocolates and truffles. If you are window shopping along this road, make sure you stop in for a “sugar kick”.- 225 rue du Faubourg St-Honoré, 8e.
Richart - Another chocolate shop. Try the ones filled with champagne. Yum! - 258 blvd St Germaine, 7e
Pastries
Pierre Herme - This pastry boutique, on Left Bank, has beautifully decorated cakes and tasty chocolates. But the real story is the macaroons. They are serious competition to the ones at Ladurée. They come packaged in bright red boxes in a variety of flavors, some classic (chocolate and caramel), others more exotic (white truffle)- 72 Rue Bonaparte, 6e; 33 Rue Marbeus, 8e.
LadurÈe - Famous for its macaroon cookies in flavors such as rose petal, blackcurrant violet and the more traditional lemon and chocolate. These are not those dried coconut things you remember as a child (or adult).
Wine
Lavinia – Lavinia’s wine selection is truly staggering. Pick up a few splits for your hotel room. If you are hungry, check out the restaurant on the second floor. If Laduree is for the ladies that lunch, Lavinia’s restaurant is for their male counterparts. The restaurant serves good traditional French food in a contemporary setting. Remember to bring a bottle from the store with you and they will chill/open it. The best part is that you'll pay the store price with no mark-up. - 3 blvd de la Madeleine, 1e.
Nicolas - Nicolas is the biggest wine chain in France. There are several branches in the city. We’ve mentioned one. - 31 place de la Madeline, 8e.
